“I’m an artist of convenience. In high school, I only did ceramics and threw on the wheel. I adored that, being in a studio with my friends making art. We had every glaze imaginable in that studio and glazing was my favorite part. It was very convenient to be a potter. When Covid shut that down, I needed an outlet so I took up painting again. The pottery studio later got turned into a parking lot so even after Covid it was not convenient anymore.”

“It is like carrying a ton of groceries in an old boxy paper bag with it ripping and apples and carrots are falling out of the bag while you patch the holes new ones form and its a never ending cycle.”

“I like abstract painting for the opposite reasons I like copying an image. Like the Stockholm Tower piece, it requires body focus and discipline. The more philosophical parts of the painting experience are mainly absent. As to work on my technical approach and determine how much of my photo or what elements to include. How chunky to make something or where to draw the eyes. Abstract, or how I make my abstract paintings, is the opposite. Were I’m mostly focusing on my emotions and my purpose for the piece. Along with what emotion or thoughts I want someone to take away from the piece. It’s never about trying to make someone think like you but you want the audience to understand you. Especially understand why one would feel this way to make a piece like this.”
